STUDENTS will soon be flocking to the county's new centre of excellence for the food and drink industry.
Core Food & Drink, part of the Pershore Group of Colleges, celebrated its official opening with a visit by MEP Philip Bushill-Matthews.
The MEP, who lives in Droitwich and is a former Malvern College pupil, praised the excellent quality, safety and innovation record of British produce and the potential of the centre for promoting its further growth and development.
Representatives from the Food Standards Agency, large and small-scale cider producers and the head of Core Food & Drink also spoke at the launch.
The new centre, part of a £1m development project, has been hailed "a great boost for the region" by college bosses keen to strengthen the industries' capabilities to manufacture, quality assure and promote safe, high-quality products.
"We are looking forward to an exciting future and further developments for the centre," said Peter Mitchell, head of Core Food & Drink.
