A MAN who was touched by the plight of sick Worcester youngster Hannah Jones and shaved his head to raise funds for her appeal has handed over a bumper bundle of cash.

Kevin Devlin, who works for delivery firm White Arrow, which is now known as Reality Group, decided to his bit to help the five-year-old, of Nuffield Close, St John's.

Generous Evening News readers, including Mr Devlin, rallied round after Hannah's family was turned down in its bid for an electric wheelchair.

They raised more than £2,500 to buy the youngster, who has acute myeloid leukaemia, a Barbie-pink chair, which she received last week.

"I've got children of my own so I suppose Hannah just struck a chord with me," said Mr Devlin.

"I wanted to do something to help and I thought a head shave would be a good idea. Everyone here has been very supportive and loads of people have sponsored me."

Mr Devlin had his head shaved at the Blackpole Inn by barber Chris Lloyd, who works at Roger's, St John's, and collected £700 in sponsorship.

"I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated money. It was for a very good cause," he added.
