PHIL Mullen has snapped up former Shepshed skipper Jeremy Carr to bolster United's defence in preparation for two tough home matches.

"We need to be a bit stronger at the back as everyone seems to wants to attack," said the Evesham boss. "It's an area that we have been concentrating on and the manner that we conceded last weekend was disappointing."

The Western Division's top scorers Hinckley will prove an early examination for Carr.

"It will be a test for both sides," Mullen said. "It's going to be a tough few days but we are looking forward to it."

Mullen revealed that Michael Stephenson will start Saturday's game alongside his "best man" Carr.

The Common Road chief also confirmed that Paul Burton had joined Kington to aid his match fitness.

The draw for the Birmingham Senior Cup means Evesham will be visiting Paget Rangers twice in the space of five days next month.

The first round tie is scheduled to take place at the Vale Stadium on Tuesday, October 3 (7.45) with the sides then clashing in the Dr Martens League on October 7.

Saturday's match is sponsored by P J Nicholls, Pinvin and the ball by Force 3 Security.

Tuesday's match is sponsored by Reeves Supplies, Redditch and the ball by Kevin's Butchers, Evesham.

The club's youth team visit Gloucester City on Monday in the Midland Floodlit League (7.30).
