CHIPPING CAMPDEN DEBATING SOCIETY: On September 30 the Autumn programme begins and the motion to be debated will be: This House believes that the Monarchy is worth keeping. Proposing the motion is Mr Herbert Harpum, a former President of the Society and a current committee member. He is seconded by Mr David Thomas, a former senior tutor at the Moreton-in-Marsh National Fire College, and a previous programme secretary. Speaking for the opposition will be Mr Alan Rusbridger, the editor of The Guardian. He will be supported by Mr Christopher Ryle, a town councillor in Chipping Campden. The debate promises to be a lively one. It will be held in the Upper Town Hall, High Street, Chipping Campden at 8 pm. Coffee is served at the end of the debate. New members and visitors are most welcome.
