IF Jeremy Robinson is going to retain his European Tour Card then he has got to cut out silly mistakes that again cost him a higher-placing at last weekend's Lancome Trophy in Paris.

The 34-year-old finished tied 63rd and picked up just under £2000 after four solid rounds left him two-over for the tournament.

""I felt my score should have been at least one shot better each day," Robinson said. "I kept making silly bogeys but I played reasonably sound throughout."

He admitted that he thought he was going to miss the cut after Friday's one-under par 70 left him one-over for the event, but the elements contrived to blow a few off course in the closing stages as he just scraped in.

It was back to a 73 on Saturday but only two dropped shots and a trio of birdies the next day left him content with his weekends work.

"I feel a lot better about the whole thing now", Robinson admitted. "There are three events left and I need a big finish. It will be nice to get something this weekend and then I can take stock of the situation before my three-week break."

The Evesham golfer tees off at the Belgacom Open today on what he describes as "a very good course."

After surviving the last couple of cuts and playing eight solid rounds, Robinson is understandably more confident about the future.

He admitted that, only a few weeks ago, he had decided not to go to Tour School in November but his improved form has prompted an about turn.

"I know that if I play like I'm playing at present, I can get my card back," he declared. "I shall definitely enter it and then wait and see what the last few events bring."
