A PRISONER released from Blakenhurst Prison, in Tardebigge, with an electronic tag has been arrested at Manchester Airport trying to board a flight to Spain.
Nicholas Bennett, aged 30, was arrested on Sunday in the airport's departure lounge by police who were alerted by his suspicious behaviour.
Bennett was waiting to board a flight to Alicante, but instead was held overnight at the airport and then taken to Strangeways Prison, near Manchester.
He is not expected to return to Blakenhurst.
He had been released from prison on home curfew detention on November 13 into the custody of Premier Monitoring Services, who run the electronic tagging scheme.
His curfew was due to end on November 27.
On November 19 he was judged to have broken the terms of his release and declared unlawfully at large.
The Sentencing Enforcement Unit, a Home Office body, was notified and issued an order for Bennett's rearrest.
He may now receive an additional sentence for the period when he was unlawfully at large.
Prisoners released on curfew have normally served at least half their sentence and are assessed for risk.
They then have to remain at a certain address for specified periods, usually during the night.
