Malvern Ladies 1
Bromsgrove Ladies' Seconds 2
hockey
FROM the first whistle Bromsgrove looked the stronger side and took control of the game with incisive penetrating attacks.
Town forwards were on target time after time, but good goalkeeping kept Malvern in the game. The ball went wide or was blocked by the keeper at several short corners, and Kelly Evenson's attacking flick at the top corner of the net was palmed away.
Confident passing between Town's forwards set up Lindsay Hyde with a through ball. Lindsay, still on a high from her hat trick last week, calmly took on the keeper to put the side ahead two minutes before the end of the first half.
Within a minute of the start of the second half Town almost scored again. Bromsgrove defenders pushed up to support the forwards and dealt confidently with Malvern's counter attacks. Pam Wood increased the lead with a good goal, which seemed to spur Malvern on. One minute from the end Town was caught out by a through ball from which Malvern scored. Player of the match was Lindsay Hyde.
