THE man responsible for the death of a Droitwich marine killed during an attack in Plymouth is due to be sentenced tomorrow.
Kevin Weaver died in March after suffering serious head injuries in an attack while on a night out with friends in Plymouth city centre.
Francis Fletcher, a 25-year-old from Woodhey Road, North Prospect, Devon, has admitted the manslaughter of 36-year-old dad Cpl Weaver. He denied a charge of murder.
Three other men, Steven Gunningham, aged 19, Karl Rapson, 20, and Dean Pope, 23, all admitted violent disorder in connection with the incident.
They are due to be sentenced at Plymouth Crown Court tomorrow.
Cpl Weaver, a married father of a two-year-old daughter, and a former pupil of Worcester's Blessed Edward Oldcorne RC High School, was in fancy dress with friends the night he was attacked on Thursday, March 2.
During the court case, held in Exeter, evidence showed Cpl Weaver died after suffering a brain injury when his head hit the pavement after being felled by a single punch.
He was taken to nearby Derriford Hospital, but died a week later.
Cpl Weaver's family said they would be attending the sentencing.
