A DROITWICH couple are hoping community spirit will help raise £25,000 in memory of their six- year-old son, who died of cancer.
Alistair Wainwright died on May 12 after a year-long battle with a brain tumour.
Following his death, his parents Deborah and Nigel, of Charles Dickens Close, launched an appeal to raise money for brain tumour research.
They have already collected £9,000, the majority of which went to the Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital in Birmingham, where Alistair was treated.
They want to raise a further £25,000 for a brain tumour research project.
The Alistair's Appeal committee, formed in September, is planning two fund-raising events next year.
There will be a charity golf day at Droitwich Golf Club, Ford Lane, on May 2, and a summer ball on July 6 at the Chateau Impney Hotel, near Droitwich.
Donation
Family and friends will be donating cash to the Alistair Appeal fund in lieu of the presents he would have received on Christmas Day.
Anyone who wants to help, or make a donation, can call Deborah or Nigel Wainwright on 01905 796275 or e-mail fundraising@alistairsappeal.org .
