Redditch Exiles 8 Droitwich Vets 15

In a highly competitive fixture a moment of skill opened the scoring for Redditch.

Trevor Pennington chipped a perfectly-weighted ball over the heads of Droitwich which Mike Jurowski ran on to score unopposed, Pennington's conversion hit the post.

The battle of the forwards kept a steady supply of ball for both sets of backs.

Carr was held up over the line and Hapgood went close on the wing but Redditch could not stretch their lead.

Towards the end of the half Redditch lost Steve Price to injury leaving them a man short for the rest of the game.

Droitwich's pressure was rewarded with a penalty which brought the half to an end with the score 5-3.

The visitors used the conditions well in the second half, keeping Redditch pinned in their own third.

Exiles had breaks but could not gain territory.

Droitwich won a five metre penalty which resulted in their first try of the match after an hour, unconverted.

Redditch battled back and with 10 minutes to go equalised with a Pennington penalty.

The referee chose to play a full 80 minute match and the extra time was too much for 14 man Redditch who let Droitwich score their winning try with five minutes to go.
