A SIX-month old foal that was treated for life-threatening septicaemia after it was born at a Beoley stables will feature in a television documentary on Monday.
Bracken was taken to the Royal Veterinary College in Hertfordshire where a major blood transfusion and treatment costing almost £3,500 was given.
The foal and his owner, Jennie Eakins, from Alvechurch, will be on Channel 5 series Animal ER, which starts at 8.30pm.
Mrs Eakins said: It was touch and go, they said we could either do a blood transfusion in the stable there and then or take him to the veterinary college.
I had just come out of hospital after breaking my wrist in a riding accident so I knew if he was to have any chance he would have to go to the college.
She added: We call him bionic man, he has had that many injections and drugs.
