DEVELOPERS building a mammoth business complex creating hundreds of jobs have submitted ambitious blueprints to planning chiefs.

A detailed application for the next area of production and distribution buildings on the 77-acre Stonebridge Cross Business Park has been sent to Wychavon District Council.

It represents one of the largest applications of its kind in Worc-estershire for many years.

If approved, the scheme will enable landowners AXA Real Estate Investment Managers, which is developing the park in association with Stoford Developments, to meet the increased demand by companies wanting to expand in Droitwich Spa.

A Stoford Developments spokesman said: "Stonebridge Cross is now poised to become Droitwich's biggest employment generator for many years."

Tim Suffield, of Fuller Peiser, which is the site letting agent, said: "AXA has spotted a gap in the market.

"There is a lack of space in the area to meet the demand for companies seeking locations with good access to the M5 and the West Midlands."

Councillors will consider the application in the New Year.
