COULD someone from the city council explain why it is wasting money having the traffic lights working at the park-and-ride site in Droitwich Road when the site is not yet open?
The council wastes money on electricity and wastes motorists' money by having them stop and start at the lights.
If the council claims it needs to do this for site construction traffic, then surely the lights need only be on during working hours and not as now, 24 hours a day.
Surely a better solution, which would also apply when the site is open, is to have the lights for entry to and exit from the site triggered by strips laid in the road.
This would mean that traffic is not unnecessarily stopped in Droitwich Road when there are no vehicles entering or leaving the site.
A similar system is in operation at the crossroads at Martin Hussingtree where it works well.
