DROITWICH athlete Geraldine Glenister won a bronze medal in the world's biggest ever indoor rowing competition.
Racing for Bewdley Rowing Club, 53-year-old Glenister won bronze at the annual PPP healthcare British Indoor Rowing Championship at the Rivermead Leisure Complex at Reading in the women's 50-54 lightweight event.
In a hotly contested final in front of 3,500 spectators, she stormed to a time of eight minutes 21.7 seconds over 2,000 metres on the Concept Two indoor rower.
She was only a few seconds off the top two athletes and received her medal from Sydney Olympic gold medallist Steve Trapmore - the stroke of Britain's men's eight.
l AT the same championships, Jane Fisher, head of PE at Bromsgrove Lower School, completed 2000 metres on the indoor rower in a personal best time of seven minutes 08.3 seconds.
This was the seventh fastest time for a woman at this major championship, earning Jane a third place in the masters age group (30-39).
