STUDLEY kept their title tilt on track at the weekend with an impressive 3-0 win over high-flying Romulus.

The results kept Mark Chambers' side three points clear of second-placed Nun Griffs who won 1-0 at Alveston.

And with Romulus one of three sides with games in hand over the leaders the match had been billed as the biggest game of the season so far.

A Kevin Rowlands brace and Steve Hands strike sealed the points and left Chambers singing the praises of his strikers.

I haven't seen any strikers in the league better than the four we have, he said.

Last season's Golden Boot winner Brian Powell is suspended until the Boxing Day derby at home to Alvechurch.

But with Powell back in full training after a hamstring injury and champing at the bit, Chambers looks set for a Christmas selection headache with Rowlands and Andy Grubb on form and electric new signing Jamie Bailey making an impact.

Midfielder Nick Mowl is back to fitness after an ankle injury but cannot get back into a side which has kept clean sheets in successive matches against title challengers.

Attempts to play the rain-hit Birmingham Senior Cup tie at home to Dr Martens Western side Atherstone were again thwarted on Tuesday and Wednesday and the Bees were set to try again last night (Tuesday).

But with more rain expected the tie was again in doubt and unlikely to be played tonight either.

The County FA is pressing Studley to decide the fixture with a possible derby date against Lye Meadow tenants Kings Heath in the next round if Heath can shock Alliance side Stratford.

But the BKL boss is more concerned with the visit of Blackheath Invensys on Saturday (ko 2.45pm) with the Black Country side out to avenge a 7-2 hammering earlier in the season.
