Studley BKL 3 Romulus 0

ANOTHER five-star performance from BKL dented Romulus' ambitions of a top three place while maintaining their own lofty position at the top.

In a non-stop action-packed 90 minutes, the Bees proved too strong for Romulus and excellent vision and commitment forced the visitors to back-pedal for most of the game.

James Cope missed a glorious chance for the opener on 18 minutes, firing wide with only the keeper Kyte to beat. This was quickly followed by Grubb's flighted cross that went narrowly wide.

Romulus' best chance fell to Robinson who intercepted Trimnell's clearance only to see his goalbound effort cleared by Simon Redhead. Kevin Rowland fired in one effort only for Kyte's legs to save the day and just before the interval Steve Duncan whistled an effort just wide.

The deadlock was broken on 60 minutes when Steven Hands reacted quickly to force home Duncan's cross. Kyte fisted away a stinging drive from Andy Grubb, while home keeper, Keith Beasley, dealt confidently with Doyle's low-angled drive from 10 yards.

With BKL pressing forward in numbers, a second goal looked likely and duly arrived on 81 minutes when Kevin Rowlands headed home Kenny Fergie's corner kick.

Rowlands added his second and BKL's third two minutes from time, taking Jamie Bailey's pass into his stride before driving low past the keeper.
