ANYONE who watched Bromsgrove's 4-2 defeat at Hinckley United on Saturday will have been puzzled to see Richard Burgess turn out and score for Rovers after he joined Northampton Town a fortnight ago.
The 21-year-old striker -- leading goalscorer and man-of-the-match recipient this season -- had been given permission by Northampton boss Kevin Wilson to play for the Greens and keep fit while their reserve team have no games.
Rovers chief executive Pat Bannister, who is registered as a football agent with Premier Promotions, has been trying to secure Burgess an improvement to the one-and-a-half-year deal Northampton have offered him.
Bannister said: "The average professional player signs a three-year deal and I want Richard's contract extended, as well as a suitable compensation deal for Bromsgrove.
"He is a lad with proven pedigree and played at every England schoolboy level until the age of 18, not to mention his time with Aston Villa and Stoke City."
Bannister admitted that on top of his duties at Rovers and his scouting commitment at Derby County's Youth Academy, his role as a football agent is already starting to flourish.
He has a number of his son Patrick's friends on his books, as well as Rovers' new signing Alfie Carter, who may yet join Port Vale.
"That's where I see my future and it's an avenue I want to look in to," Bannister added.
Two players leaving the Victoria Ground are Marc Burrow and Scott Gennard. Burrow has returned to Dr Martens League Premier Division Worcester City, while Gennard has joined Midland Alliance outfit Willenhall Town after making just one start for Rovers.
