A WATER main that has been leaking for five months could turn a road in Rubery into a skating rink when it freezes, it was claimed this week.

Now the Labour county councillor for the area is urging the authority to seek legal advice on whether Severn Trent Water can be sued for the damage leaking water is doing to Callowbrook Lane.

Cllr Peter McDonald said: "I have been trying to get the leak fixed since August, but nothing has been done.

"I understand the whole main needs replacing, but if something is not done soon leaks will spring all over the place.

"My great fear is that if it freezes the whole road could become a skating rink and a serious hazard to drivers and pedestrians."

Severn Trent Water could not be contacted for a comment as we went to press.
