On Saturday afternoon, High Duty Alloys Ltd held their annual children's Christmas Party and over 500 children of their employees were entertained in the canteen.
The hall was seasonably decorated with lights, holly and a Christmas tree.
A first class tea party was followed by community singing led by Mr E Crumpton accompanied by Messrs Ford (pianoforte) and Mr Tipping (accordion).
Mr H J Paramore then presented a selection of his short films (comic) which were greatly enjoyed.
A distribution of ice-cream led to the evening's high-point, the arrival of Father Christmas, who entered through the fire place.
As the children left for home he presented a gift to each of them.
