THE full flavour of Christmas was in force when Chipping Campden held its Victorian shopping day last Saturday.

The event, organised by the town's rotary club, has traditionally been held on a midweek evening, but this year was switched to Saturday afternoon and evening with great success.

Rotarian John James said: "The actual day went very satisfactorily." He said the decision to switch the day had been taken to allow more children to attend and make it easier for the traders.

Some visitors and many shop staff slipped into their Victorian Sunday best for the day and the olde-worlde atmosphere was enhanced by of Morris dancing, a pig roast and an organ grinder merrily playing away.

Musical entertainment was provided by Shipston Town Band and Chipping Campden School's swing band.

There was also a live Nativity scene.
