A RAIN deluge on Tuesday evening has been blamed for carrying away a parked car and "aquaplaning" it into a shop window.
Lawrence Lynch, of Strings the music shop in the Kidderminster Swan Centre complex, said he was alerted to a car being lodged in his shop window at 7.30pm and thought at first it was a ram raid.
But he realised this was improbable since the shop is surrounded by rails and at the bottom of a wide flight of steps.
Mr Lynch, who moved in 18 months ago as a Swan Centre tenant, said he learned a car had been parked on the side of Coventry Street which became a river as rainwater washed down the slope.
"The car must have aquaplaned down the steps and turned its back into the window," he said.
"It was lucky the window was protected by a grid but some instruments were damaged. We are open for business as usual however," he added.
