A FURIOUS council leader has pledged to write a letter every day to the Prime Minister until an 81-year-old victim of Alzheimers' disease "stranded" in hospital is brought home to her family in Kidderminster.

Wyre Forest district councillor Mike Oborski has started a campaign to bring Edna Langford home before Christmas. He says he will also write to Wyre Forest MP David Lock and county council leaders every day, until she returns "to the accommodation and support she so desperately needs".

Mrs Langford, who lives on the town's Offmore Farm Estate, has been in Evesham Hospital for 10 weeks, following a fall.

Her daughter, who does not drive, faces a six-hour round bus trip everytime she visits the hospital.

Liberal councillors Mike Oborski, Fran Oborski and Siri Hayward have voiced concern at what they term "county council delays in finding suitable accommodation for an elderly lady".

A Worcestershire County Council spokesman said the council sympathised with Mrs Langford's situation and was "looking into it".

He said the plan was to move 10 people per week out of hospital into the community "to relieve winter pressures".

Coun Oborski said he knew Mrs Langford was being well looked after, but described it as "not the point".

"I am today promising Mrs Langford's daughter that I will write every day to the Prime Minister, David Lock, Worcestershire County Council chief executive Rob Sykes and Worcestershire County Council head of Social Services Coun Peter Pinfield until the situation is sorted out," said Coun Oborski.

"We want Mrs Langford back in Kidderminster, in suitable accommodation, for Christmas!"
