THE first Evesham Arts Centre Choir concert under the new musical directorship of John Brierley promises to be an interesting programme.
Items include the Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Vaughan Williams and there will be some solo items from guest trumpeter, Paul Wood along with Christmas readings and carols.
John Brierley is no newcomer to the choir. Before joining members on a regular basis last September he stepped in as an occasional accompanist.
He studied the organ with A D Ashcroft prior to reading music at University College Durham and during his university days he was assistant organist and pupil of Alan Thurlow, winning the Rothwell prize.
He was based for several years in London and held the post of Director of Music at St Peter's, Streatham.
Now living and working in Worcester, John enjoys a busy and varied freelance career. He is organist and choirmaster at All Saints, Worcester and has given recitals throughout the country.
Tickets for Saturday's concert are available at £5 with reductions for pensioners, at the Evesham Book Centre in Library Parade, Evesham.
