DECEMBER 8 would have been my father's 75th birthday. Tragically, he was killed last December 23 crossing the road at 4.25pm.
It was a day that shattered many lives. The pain and the suffering is still intense - at times unbearable for my family.
However, can you imagine the feelings of a driver involved in this type of death? The feelings of his/her family?
Drink and speed were contributory factors in my father's death, although the driver was not over the drink limit.
Christmas is a nightmare for all of us.
Everywhere you go, Christmas is advertised, from October onwards, urging everyone to have a "Happy Christmas".
I would like to urge all drivers who get into their cars after having a drink, to be aware of the consequences their actions might have.
Please think, and have a peaceful Christmas.
