PERSHORE Town have slipped out of the top two in the Premier Division of the Midland Combination for almost the first time this season.
However, it's the weather that has interrupted Colin Shepherd's championship chase but the King George's outfit are still handily placed to regain top spot.
Last Saturday's scheduled opponents were Continental Star and Town face another test against lowly opposition this weekend when Northfield are the visitors.
Leaders Studley defeated Romulus, one of just two sides to beat Town this term, 3-0 on Saturday to move three points clear of Nuneaton Griff, 1-0 victors at Alveston.
Pershore, though, have three games in hand on BKL and one on the reigning champions.
The new year should start in cracking style at King George's with the visit of Studley, who boast several ex-Evesham United players in their squad.
Kevin Rowlands, Craig Gillett, Stephen Hands and Steve Duncan are just four of the players sharing in Studley's successful season.
Town's second string did manage to beat the elements last Saturday but they let in a flood of goals!
Brintons were the side on song in the Worcestershire FA Junior Cup quarter-final as they cruised into a 3-0 lead after just seven minutes.
The home side added a fourth before the interval but only a goal from Ricky Halion lifted Pershore's hopes of a comeback after half time.
It wasn't to be as Brintons scored twice more in their spectacular six-hit show.
There was more wet weather misery for the club's senior players when Tuesday night's scheduled Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup tie was postponed.
