AN Evesham school is the best in the county according to the primary school league tables released last Thursday.
St Mary's RC Primary School in Rynal Street took top place out of nearly 100 Worcestershire schools in the tables which show the Key Stage two performance of pupils.
St Mary's had 14 pupils eligible for Key Stage two testing. 93% achieved level four or above in English while 100% achieved level four or above in maths and science.
Head Brian McSharry said: "We are very happy indeed. We have been improving our performance of pupil achievement for the last three years and we are encouraged that these latest figures reflect this.
"We are very pleased with the results in the three core subjects. All the children achieved the grades we expected of them including those who didn't achieve level four but who still exceeded their personal limits.
"The boys' achievements have also been very pleasing. They have either equalled or exceeded the girls and we also had a greater number of children this year who achieved level five in the tests."
In English, 54% of the pupils who achieved level four or above actually reached level five. In maths, 29% achieved level five while 43% achieved level five in science.
Bredon Hill Middle School was the next Vale school on the list at number 23. Out of the 153 pupils eligible for the tests, 87% achieved level four or above in English, 76% in maths and 97% in science.
St Nicholas Middle School in Pinvin was ranked 33 in the county with 80% of pupils achieving level four or more in English, 77% in maths and 89% of science.
In the middle of the rankings were St Barnabas First and Middle School at Drakes Broughton with 83%, 70% and 86%; Abbey Park Middle School in Pershore with 74%, 71% and 85%; Blackminster Middle with 76%, 65% and 88%; Simon de Montfort Middle with 74%, 64% and 90% and St Egwins Middle with 74%, 63% and 88%. Results across the county have improved generally with Worcestershire improving in both English and maths.
