RESIDENTS are being urged to attend a public meeting tonight to have their say on plans to build new parish rooms worth £200,000 at Areley Kings.
Stourport Town Council has made land available on the recreation ground at Areley Common for the building to include a hall, stage for theatre groups, meeting rooms and changing rooms for possible future football facilities.
The present parish rooms date back to the 1930s and cannot be expanded, so residents have worked together to raise some of the money needed to support a bid for lottery funding.
Peter Archer, secretary of the new village hall committee, said: "We need as many people as possible to come and look at the plans and also to hear a report by the treasurer before we decide when we will be able to make our lottery application, which we hope will be before Christmas.
"We have had more than 100 people who have helped us in our fund-raising so far. For a £200,000 project like this we need to raise £20,000 ourselves."
The meeting at the Parish Room, Areley Common, is at 8pm.
