A DEVOTED grandmother is gathering football memorabilia, sporting items and other goods for an auction to raise money for the hospital cancer ward that has been treating her young grandson.
Brenda Hughes, of The Serpentine, Kidderminster, said: "It is the only way we can say thank-you for all the care the nurses have been giving to my grandson and other children with cancer."
Proceeds from the auction at Jacksons pub in Marlpool Lane on Monday at 7.30pm will go to Birmingham Children's Hospital cancer ward where six-year-old Danny Lane is being treated for leukaemia.
Among items already acquired for auction are two tickets to a Manchester United match, a Kidderminster Harriers signed shirt and goalie gloves, a signed WBA shirt and pendants from Spurs and Middlesborough.
Danny's aunt and uncle Lisa and Simon Andrews run the pub. His family has now moved from their former home in Foley Park, Kidderminster, to the Worcester area.
Anyone who can donate items can contact Mrs Hughes on 01562 748355.
