COUNCILLOR Fran Oborski has urged patients to seek a second opinion on whether district doctors back the county health shake-up.
She cast grave doubts on whether Wyre Forest General Practitioners Association's stance of backing Kidderminster Hospital's downgrading was the view of the majority of GPs.
Mrs Oborski, who has been a councillor for 26 years, said she had yet to meet anyone whose doctor backed the controversial statement by the GPs group.
She said: "The half-a-dozen people I have spoken to who have asked their GPs how they felt have all been told they are not in agreement with the statement.
"People have to keep fighting and everyone who goes to see their doctor should ask them where they stand."
