PARISH COUNCIL: Report of parish council meeting held on October 10: An open meeting was held in order to discuss the farcical situation with regard to the imminent installation of the new sewerage. Subsequent to the issue of the letter no 2 sent to households by Severn Trent enquiries regarding connection revealed that the scheme had changed and that no facilities for individual laterals to boundaries were being provided. All that Severn Trent were providing was a pipe down the road and it was up to each person to arrange for connection and dig up the road, cut the pipe, insert a 'tee' provide the lateral pipe.
Connect up to the sewer and restore the highway. Furthermore this work could only be carried out by a licensed contractor. Consequently this would add approximately £750-£1000 extra to join this new sewer, certainly not the situation people had been led to believe. Mr Peter Wright the district councillor together with the clerk had been investigating this and Mr Wright had established that money originally set aside by Wychavon to aid people to connect was still available. Also Wychavon were urgently seeking talks with Severn Trent to try and resolve this matter. Mr Meikle Wychavon leader had resorted to contacting the MP Sir Michael Spicer. The committee meeting of Wychavon would debate the matter at its meeting of October 31.
Planning application WOO/0931 Mr K Halligan was not objected to but comments regarding the garage were made. WOO/1030 Mr and Mrs J Heath for an extension to provide entrance hall and porch with dormer over at Springfield House, St Peters Lane was not objected to. WOO/1125/6 Prowting Homes Midlands for the construction of four detached houses and garages at land opposite Lincolns Farm received - no objections. WOO/1195 Mr A Salerman for construction of clubhouse and transfer and construction of observers/race management box at land fronting the River Avon was not objected to. WOO/1122 Mr and Mrs Clegg for replacement windows and door with conservation style hardwood double glazed units and replacement front porch received - no objections. WOO/1244 Mr and Mrs Pepperell for two storey extension to side to create family room with two bedrooms above and single storey extension to rear to form conservatory at Arberworth Harpley Orchard received - no objections. Planning decisions included WOO/0517 Mr J Jenkins approved subject to several conditions including materials, access etc. WOO/0555 Mr A Holmes approved subject to many conditions covering all aspects. WOO/0642 Prowting Homes approved. WOO/0977 Mr and Mrs Pester approved subject to conditions concerning materials and domestic storage use only. WOO/1030 Mr and Mrs Heath approved. The situation regarding Ivory Plant Hire had changed significantly after the Worcestershire County Council secured an injunction preventing further dumping on the site. More action was pending and it was anticipated that things would gradually return to normal as the illegal activities were curbed. It had been established that the operators licence being sought by N J Robinson was a restricted version for movement only of own goods. It was likely that should planning permission be granted for conversion to housing on the site that the operating centre would then be relocated elsewhere. Those people using the local footpath network would have noticed by now the work carried out on path no 16 at the top end of Spring Bank Lane which had now been cleared and surfaced with gravel.
