COLD hours watching their youngsters play football have persuaded a group of Stourport women to set up their own team.
Burlish Olympic have had to borrow one of the men's team kits to play their first game with Cleobury Mortimer.
And midfielder Val Lavery, of Stourport, said: "We're mostly mums of sons who play as well as a few more who have joined since and we hope to join the West Midlands League.
"We had stood on the touchline for so many years that we thought we may as well give it a go ourselves.
"We need to form more ladies' teams. There are one or two girls' teams but where are they going to go when they are too old for that level?"
The team, who train on Fridays between 8pm and 9pm at Stourport Sports Club, also have a mother and daughter in their squad, Denene and Lara Fudge.
They are looking for help with sponsorship and games. Val Lavery can be contacted on 01299 824193.
