IT was very interesting to read about the ambitions of Bewdley Town Football Club.

They are a very well run club who encourage local talent and I wish them well in their fight to be able to compete in a higher standard.

It also saddens me that another well run and successful local club, Wyre Forest FC, have had to resign from the Midland Combination.

Last season, Wyre Forest were the best junior outfit in Worcestershire.

They were denied promotion because of their ground facilities.

I am sure that if a suitable ground was available to them, they would have been able to keep last season's squad together and maybe be pushing for promotion into the Midland Combination Premier Division.

With Brintons Athletic and Chaddesley Corbett competing along with Bewdley in the Banks's League Division One South, there are options open for good local footballers to play at a more competitive standard.

However, to encourage ambitious clubs and players it would be beneficial if a ground with the right criteria could be made available to them.

Is it at all possible that a ground may be developed in the area or is it more important to use any vacant space to attract some more DIY stores or supermarkets?
