YOU would be hard pressed to find anyone more contented in their job than Kemp Hospice's Ali Taylor.

The 27-year-old is the voluntary services co-ordinator at the charity which she said is "deeply close" to her heart.

And Miss Taylor believes the job satisfaction she earns at the Kidderminster-based charity, which cares for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, is down to a few simple ingredients.

She said: "The most rewarding aspect is being able to go home at the day's end in the knowledge that my work has helped a local person who is reliant upon the aid given by myself and the rest of the staff at Kemp.

"I don't think there are many jobs where you can say that is the case, so I never have a day where nothing important has been achieved."

Her work involves recruiting, placing, supporting, training and managing the number of volunteers who help at Kemp, which operates throughout Wyre Forest and as far away as Tenbury.

She said: "My tasks include organising all sorts of things such as driving jobs, patient care, administration and fund-raising activities.

"I do get to deal with some of the patients but the bulk of my tasks are based around working with our volunteers."

She added: "The teamwork of the staff at Kemp is beyond belief.

"Everyone pulls together constantly and there is a feeling that you don't want to let anyone down.

"The beauty of my job is that every day offers something different and it is unbelievable how each day provides a different challenge, although I must admit I sometimes think there aren't enough hours in the day."

Miss Taylor has the perfect background for the job as she has the required qualifications in psychology, teaching and counselling.

The Wrexham-born woman, who moved to Hagley and studied at Haybridge High School, eventually left the University of Bolton with a psychology degree in 1994.

She had a teaching spell in Wigan before returning to the Midlands and her present Kidderminster home in 1997.

Miss Taylor also enjoys gardening, cooking and boating in her spare time.

She said: "I do like to relax after a hectic day's work - and I have plenty of those - but when I have the opportunity I get great enjoyment from those hobbies.

"It's important to unwind, especially when work gets so busy!"

She added: "Singing and sailing are my main hobbies but I really do take part in these activities at my own leisure.

"My family and my work take up the vast majority of my time but that is not something I am compaining of."
