BLACK paints a bright picture at a local Jujitsu Group that meets at Evesham Leisure Centre.
The club now boasts seven senior black belts at their regular classes, has also earned a number of new status levels at recent gradings and gained success at an International Kumite competition.
Senior members Paul Severn, John Mates and Alan Wilde along with junior Kevin McNamee were successful in gradings. John, Alan and Kevin all became 1st Dan black belts, while Paul is now a 2nd Dan.
Junior duo Sam King (12) and Kris Byers (13) both brought home medals from a kumite competition. The latter winning gold in the U-40kg category, while his clubmate had to settle for silver in the U-50kg event.
Classes take place in the main hall on Tuesdays and Fridays. Adults and juniors combine on Tuesday nights between 7 and 9pm, while on Friday nights the younger members are in action from 6-7.30 and the seniors between 7 and 8.30pm.
