Pershore 2, Stafford 2
AFTER arguably their best DTZ League performance of the season, a much-changed Pershore side held promotion contenders Stafford to a 2-2 draw at Evesham High School on Saturday.
Pershore started slowly but with stood early Stafford Pressure and scored from virtually their first attack of the game when Rushton scored from a slick penalty corner routine.
Playing with renewed confidence Pershore produced some of their best hockey of the season. With Andrews and Hughes in outstanding form up front and skilful prompting from Rushin and Jamie Hughes in midfield.
Pershore went close to improving there lead on a number of occasions but were stunned by a Stafford equaliser on the stroke of half time.
In a more even second half Pershore again created the better chances and regained the lead when Jamie Hughes scored with a well-taken penalty stroke.
Stafford pushed hard for an equaliser but with Tucker and Corfield prominent Pershore held out until their opponents were awarded a penalty stroke minutes from time,
A much-improved performance by Pershore who face a difficult away fixture against table topping Stone on Saturday.
