EVESHAM suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Stour-bridge despite the excellent efforts Louise Nuttall and Enid Walker.
The latter was involved in a five-game thriller as the Evesham player produced some fine drops and volleys to keep her opponent at bay.
After taking the opening game 9-6, Walker managed just four points in losing the next two but she then slowed the game down and introduced a wide variety of shots that stopped her opponent in her tracks.
Such was Walker's domination that she took the fourth game for the loss of a single point before easing to a 9-4 in the decider.
A foot fault call upset Nuttall's rhythm in the second set after she led by a game and 7-4. Her opponent then took the second 9-7 but the Evesham player stormed back to take the next two 9-6, 9-6 for a 3-1 win.
The remaining trio all slumped to 3-0 defeats with a gallant Lorna Robinson failing to come to terms with a formidable opponent.
Frances Henighan produced an equally determined effort and was disappointed with her performance while Sarah Bent just had "one of those nights"!
