IT'S folklore more than festive at the Swan as the well-known tales surrounding one of England's greatest legendary heroes are given another telling.
For many youngsters, this will be their first introduction to Robin Hood, Maid Marion et al and Philip Monks has weaved the most familiar stories into one show using the usual mix of actors in multi-roles, actors playing instruments and songs which, in this case, are based on English folk tunes. Everything swings along merrily with bright costumes, a deceptively simple set and some delightful playing and singing.
Richard Long and Barry Shannon play masterfully to their young audience and, even though this isn't a pantomime, there is plenty to cheer, boo, hiss and even toot! Primarily this is a children's show and they'll love it - but there's lots for adults to enjoy too. It runs until January 6. JK
