THE new laws of cricket were published on October 1 which means that all clubs, umpires, scorers and fans will have to become accustomed to a completely different style of game.
The changes include such radical changes as the awarding of penalty runs and the removal of the same for many offences. Worcestershire begins its programme of instruction in these new laws starting in January 2001 at three venues across the county.
Everybody will be most welcome and there will be an opportunity to take the first stage examination in umpiring if they so wish. The following venues will be used:
Evesham (The Working Men's Club) Monday, January 8 to Monday, March 12, 2001 7.30-9.30pm.
Kidderminster (The Chain Wire Social Club) Tuesday, January 9 to Tuesday, March 13, 2001 7.30-9.30pm.
Worcester (Old Elizabethan's CC) Monday, January 8 to Monday, March 12, 2001 7.30-9.30pm.
