Look at the latest suggestion. A primary school built at the end of a cul-de-sac - Redhill - calls for traffic-calming to protect its pupils walking to school from the increased traffic caused by those going to school by car.
We are giving out the wrong message. Roads are not play areas. What we should be doing is finding routes for children to walk and mark safe places for them to cross the road.
Why doesn't Mike Foster get the old Belisha beacon upgraded. Instead of beacon flashing 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, a simple timer switch is all that is needed.
