A GREAT Wall of Bidford has been built in record time by a team of 12 women in aid of a children's charity - and their challenge was completed with 10 minutes to spare.
The team from Studley-based Beazer Homes aimed to lay 1,000 bricks in an hour but completed the task in only 50 minutes to raise money for Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood (CLIC).
The event was on November 23 at Beazer's Midsummer Gardens development in Bidford, where the women donned overalls and hard hats and set to work building two adjacent brick walls.
The company's usual team of bricklayers adopted the role of labourers and were kept busy ferrying a constant supply of bricks.
Beazer's area sales manager, Janet Herbert, who organised the event, said: "None of us had ever attempted bricklaying before but we gave it our best shot.
"The weather was awful but nothing could dampen our spirits."
