ON Sunday Powick were in formidable form when they completely outplayed Corinthians to go through to the next round of the Bernard Finnegan Cup.

WORCESTER CORINTHIANS 1, POWICK 10

It took just seven minutes for Gary Henderson to set his mark on the game when he neatly turned his defender to shoot wide of the keeper to open the scoring.

Seven minutes later Gary Henderson made a superb run down the wing and crossed the ball for Nick Price to run on to and make it 2-0.

Powick continued to dominate the game and had several good shots on goal, but it took 40 minutes until they increased the score and it was Gary Henderson again who picked up a loose ball in the goalmouth and placed it in the back of the net.

Two minutes later Corinthians found themselves in unfamiliar territory and they took full advantage by pulling a goal back when Powick defence faltered in the muddy conditions.

Any hopes of a revival were soon put in doubt when two minutes later Micky Pearson pounced in the penalty area to put his name on the score sheet and give Powick a 4-1 lead at the interval.

Within 15 minutes of the restart Powick went on a goal spree, Gary Henderson increased his tally to four and Bryan Craven and Gareth Smith got one each to make the score 8-1.

Corinthians never gave up and tried hard to get back into the game but could find no answer to either break down the Powick defence or stop their attack. It was no surprise that Powick increased their lead before the final whistle when Nick Price and Bryan Craven both got another goal each to make the final score 10-1.

This was a very good performance by Powick and the way they played would have been a problem to any opposition. Man of the Match was Gary Henderson.
