ANDREW Lamerton is desperate to face old pal Adrian Davies in this afternoon's National One clash with London Welsh.
Worcester Rugby Club's hooker suffered a knee injury in last weekend's defeat at Moseley and has faced a race against time all week to overcome the knock.
However, if fit, the 29-year-old believes he can help to further dent the confidence of Davies' team after a tough month.
Welsh have suffered at the hands of the top two -- Worcester and Leeds Tykes -- in the last few weeks. Now the ex-Wales international wants to add to their problems.
He said: "I know Adrian and played with him in back in Wales. There are a number of people at the club who are friends and they probably think they are coming to Sixways and catching us at the right time. However we've blown out the cobwebs this week and we'll be ready.
"Adrian was here recently as coach of the National Divisions side against the Springboks and we did very well that day. I hope though he doesn't think he's going to have another good day at Worcester!
"He is doing a good job there at London Welsh considering the resources - it must be difficult playing against full-time clubs but the gap doesn't seem to be that big.
"I think the skills are pretty much the same but the professional sides have the advantage because of the fitness factor. Adrian has his players probably twice a week for training while teams like Worcester are training all the time."
However, the extra fitness made no difference on Saturday when Worcester suffered their first National One defeat of the season at Moseley.
Lamerton knows how much defeat hurt the players and coach Adrian Skeggs. "We all know we let the club and the supporters down and it has been a difficult week. The good thing is that we have a chance to put things right at Sixways and we are determined to bounce back with a win because Leeds will be pushing us all the way."
