THIRTEEN-year old Chaddesley Corbett rider Samantha Oliver is through to the top junior final at the national Blue Chip Show Jumping Championships, due to be held at Solihull in the West Midlands next spring.
Oliver, a pupil at King Charles High School in Kidderminster, finished fifth in a strong Blue Chip Junior Sparkle qualifier at Warwickshire College.
The talented youngster was one of 10 riders to reach the timed jump-off, riding her 14.2hh bay gelding Sorcerers Apprentice, pulling off a great clear round from her third in draw.
"Samantha has only had the pony for just over 12 weeks and the course was big at Warwickshire College, with a large oxer off the corner and a stile to finish, so we were pleased," said Samantha's mother Carol Oliver.
"He's a forward going pony but Samantha didn't push him against the clock, as they haven't been together long."
The pair also won a Junior Members Cup class at Solihull Riding Club, a split second clear of Warwickshire rider Erin Dobby.
Oliver finished second in the Junior Newcomers class at this venue on her 13.2hh pony Errigal Blaze -- the pair have been together for just five months, but Errigal Blaze is now up for sale.
Droitwich senior show-jumper Rosemary Tillson has also been going well recently, at BSJA shows in two counties.
At Hartpury College in Gloucestershire she began with a win in the British Novice on Innocent Opinion, a horse se has in for just a couple of weeks "get him going" for Evesham owner Debbie Tyler.
"The horse was bred to race but didn't grow big enough," Rosemary explained. "He's a novice and so is Debbie, so I was just getting things started."
Tillson then headed the Badminton Horse Feeds Newcomers competition at Hartpury on the nearly black mare Colemore Petrina, who also finished fourth in the Discovery.
"The mare is by the international horse Poucka and is owned by Jill Reynolds, who bred her out of a Grade B mare," Tillson added.
"She came to me in June time when she was just broken and was also second in a Newcomers class at Gracelands arena, just after Hartpury."
Tillson also won a Newcomers event at Gracelands, a popular venue near Droitwich, on Avie Irwin's home-bred horse Bitteswell be Fran, a four year old grey mare Rosemary "hopes for big things" from.
The same owner's home-bred gelding Bitteswell Be Magic finished second in the same class for Rosemary, who will now "concentrate on getting milage" on the young horse's clocks before the outside season next spring.
