THE good news is that at last, after months of dithering and deceiving, the Conservatives have begun to reveal their transport strategy for Worcester.
The bad news is that their strategy entails unrestricted traffic growth.
Worcester is a relatively small cathedral city with a thousand-year history. It is not Merry Hill and shouldn't try to be. Shoehorning as many cars as possible into Worcester's city centre will not bring prosperity as the Tories seem to believe, but only more congestion, more pollution and greater ill-health.
The Tories' mantra of "choice" actually threatens the very qualities that make Worcester so attractive.
