OH dear. New Labour's spawnings, Advantage West Midlands and the Regional Chamber, just don't get on.

A Regional Chamber report says: The new governance structure has in some measure served only to add to the confusion surrounding regional roles and contributed to an atmosphere of institutional tensions, not only between the Chamber and Advantage but also drawing in the West Midlands Local Government Association and the Government Office for the West Midlands.

More damning still is the next line: Instead of partnership working at regional level (there) is a widespread perception that it has gone backwards in the West Midlands.

Many of those involved in the Chamber headed by Worcestershire county councillor Colin Beardwood - "have experienced frustration and/or disillusionment", the report goes on to say.

Bearing this in mind, wouldn't it be a good idea to abolish both the Chamber and Advantage West Midlands and find a better way of doing the job?
