I AGREE with Joy Turner of the Arboretum (You Say, December 7). People should, health permitting, walk more. It's all right if, as Joy and myself, you live close to the city centre.
However, the taxis she would exclude serve the very people who cannot carry heavy loads. And to use a taxi once or twice a week is definitely environmentally better than owning a car.
Could her appeal for fewer taxis perhaps ease the Arboretum parking problem?
