I WAS most touched by Councillor Neil Monkhouse's sad letter in the Evening News (Saturday, December 9), voicing his concerns that he was totally and utterly opposed to any development on greenfield sites.
I am most surprised - I am sorry that he feels making decisions are difficult. However, he did listen to the proposal advocating and extolling the virtues of this site - put forward by Councillor Inman so eloquently - that this was the best site in Worcester for development.
He also heard the many reasons why it should not be chosen put forward by Labour members on Technical Services Committee. Still he voted for it!
Then came report after report in the local media that residents in Councillor Inman's Ward and other organisations were totally against this development.
So now Councillor Monkhouse is against it - as he always has been, apparently. Here's the trick, Neil - next time you are totally opposed to something don't put your hand up and vote for it - vote against - it improves your credibility!
COUN RICHARD I BIRD,
Ombersley Road,
Worcester.
