MAY I add some information regarding disabled parking in Redditch town centre during the ongoing refurbishment of the bus station?
Currently, town centre buses and taxis are having to use the Church Green area. This has resulted to changes in the road traffic system and a loss of some disabled parking spaces there.
As an alternative, the same number of disabled spaces are now available close to Unicorn Hill in Vine Street (accessible from the ringway) and close to Church Green in Herbert Street (to replace the parking bays removed from Church Road and Church Green West).
The re-opened car park 7 off Church Road also has space for disabled parking, as do all the Redditch centre car parks.
This represents an additional six bays for disabled parking users.
Redditch Council is also supporting 38 free disabled parking spaces in car park 3 for users of our Shopmobility service, which are used over 12,000 times a year.
Redditch Council will continue to work to meet the needs of disabled people in the borough and we are doing all we can to meet the parking needs of town centre disabled shoppers.
