May I please, through the pages of your newspaper, offer my congratulations and thanks to those responsible for the exceptionally lovely Christmas illuminations in Alcester?
I had intended to write last year but you know how it is...
The simplicity and restraint of the overall effect is totally captivating and in keeping to what Christmas truly means.
It is a magical and enchanting display.
It also reflects the thoughtfulness and enthusiasm of all the people who together make Alcester such a special place to live.
As a comparative newcomer to the town, I feel it is a privilege to live here and this would seem as good opportunity as any to send very best Christmas wishes and gratitude to everyone with whom I come in contact, whether working in shops, in the service industries or for the council, for I think of them all as friends who have helped me along the way since I was widowed eight years ago.
