ALCESTER skipper Andy Flynn was set to learn tomorrow whether he will get the all clear to return to action.
The crocked skipper has been sidelined for weeks after suffering a knee injury and is set to see a specialist.
Initial fears he had suffered the recurrence of cruciate damage proved unfounded and Flynn is desperate to return for the Boxing Day friendly at home to Alcester Grammar School Old Boys (ko 11.30am).
Flynn cannot return soon enough after seeing his lacklustre side slump to defeat in a low-scoring game against mid-table Spartans.
I have no idea what went wrong on Saturday, said Flynn, Neither side seemed interested in winning and all the points came from mistakes.
We've tried switching things around and tried getting players to show more commitment to training but I'm afraid we're running out of ideas.
But the captain is not certain he will get the green light tomorrow.
I'm not completely confident about the knee because I still get twinges from it.
The traditional friendly fixture will see half of the Alcester first team turn out for the Old Boys and could see the Grammar upset the form book.
Flynn will use the match to take a look at a number of players who have been turning out for the seconds.
